Captain Ron
Starring: Kurt Russell and Martin Short
Martin Short and Kurt Russell star in this comedy about sailing and cruising. Martin Harvey (Martin Short) inherits a wooden sail boat that once belong to Clark Gable. Harvey hires Captain Ron Rico (Kurt Russell) to help him and his family bring the boat back to the US from the Caribbean. Along the way, problems abound, from pirates to plumbing, revolutionaries to rum, the plot twists and turns from one comedic scene to another.
Captain Ron is a worthy addition to the sailor’s DVD collection. Perfect for a winter’s evening when scenes of the tropics are welcome along with a bilge full of laughter.

Deep Water
Directed by: Louise Osmond and Jerry Rothwell
In 1968 nine men set out to sail single handed and nonstop around the world. Only one, Robin Knox-Johston finishes the race. Deep Water, chronicles the story of one competitor, Bernard Crowhurst. Short on skills, time, and resources Crowhurst sets out unprepared for the journey. He soon recognizes that he faces financial ruin if he does not complete the race and certain death if he continues. This documentary uses original 16mm footage, interviews with fellow competitors and family, and entries from his log to explore his experience and tragedy at sea.
Artistically and tastefully done, Deep Water, is a compelling story of one man's ambition and the lure of the sea.
